Please arrive 5 minutes before your slot starts and separate materials before coming to site. Between 24 and 31 December, opening hours will be 8am to 4pm. To get the most out of them, plug in your EV about 5-10min before your free power slot starts. Here’s how to pick your Happy Hour time slot. When energy demand is at its highest (usually around teatime), the network sometimes fires up expensive fossil fuel generators to keep up. So that we don’t put too much pressure on the grid, we’ve limited the number of places available for each time slot.
Why we have introduced a booking system
If you are unclear if your vehicle needs an e-permit, check the criteria on our Apply for a waste e-permit page. An e-permit is still required to make a booking for commercial type vehicles and trailers. A vehicle requiring an E-permit can make 6 free trips per 12 months for household waste and/or DIY waste. For example, a large car can make as many household waste trips as required and can make 4 free DIY waste trips per 2 months.
